“BEAKMAN’S WORLD ON TOUR” Always inquisitive and never boring, Beakman and his friends take visitors on a journey of discovery through principals of science and facts about the natural world that excite children and the young at heart. Visitors participate in challenges, demonstrations and experiments to explore questions and answers about four fantastic worlds including rainforests, the universe, dinosaurs and ourselves. “THIS PLACE MATTERS” is a pictorial and descriptive Oak Ridge exhibition that focuses on seven locally endangered sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places and those designated as National Historic Landmarks. This exhibit also includes maps, photos, and general information regarding historic preservation. In conjunction with The National Trust for Historic Preservation recognition of May 2008 as Preservation Month, “This Place Matters” exhibition evolved from the partnership of the Oak Ridge Historic Preservation Association and the American Museum of Science and Energy. “ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION 1947 TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS OF EARLY OAK RIDGE .” See the original mapping of Oak Ridge, before the gates to the city opened on May 19, 1949. These maps prepared for the USAEC under direction of the Chief Engineers, by the Army Map Service, War Department with aerial photography flown by the US Army Air Force. AMSE Lobby

"Secret City Oak Ridge Driving Tour" Discover WWWII’s Secret City with the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitors Bureau official Oak Ridge Driving Tour, now available from AMSE’s Discovery Shop.
This newly revised driving tour, beginning and ending in front of the Oak Ridge Visitors Welcome Center and American Museum of Science & Energy, includes many notable stops such as historic Jackson Square, the International Friendship Bell, University of Tennessee Arboretum, and Oak Ridge Marina.
The Oak Ridge Driving Tour kit is comprised of a colorful map and audio commentary on your choice of cassette or CD.
CD's and cassette can be purchased for $12. If the cassette or CD is returned with receipt, the buyer will receive a $7 refund.
