The museum opened on March 19, 1949 in an old wartime cafeteria. It was originally named the American Museum of Atomic Energy. Its guided tours took visitors through the peaceful uses of atomic energy. A nominal fee of 25 cents was charged for admission into the museum.
To commemorate our 60th anniversary, AMSE will turn back the clock on prices and admission into the museum will be 25 cents for all visitors from Thursday, March 19 - Saturday, March 21, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Check AMSE's calendar for a full list of activities.
