BEAKMAN’S WORLD ON TOUR OPENS AT AMSE

Beakman's World On Tour LogoOAK RIDGE, TN  - BADA-BING BADA-BOOM, BADA-BOOK-HIM-A ROOM…Beakman is taking his show on the road!  BEAKMANS WORLD ON TOUR, the hands-on version of Beakman’s World, the exciting, innovative children’s television program is coming February 2 – May 18, 2008 to the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Always inquisitive and never boring, Beakman and his friends take visitors on a journey of discovery through principals of science and facts about the natural world that excites children in kindergarten through eighth grade and the young at heart.

Visitors participate in challenges, demonstrations and experiments to explore questions and answers about four fantastic worlds:  What we can discover in a rainforest, how we explore the universe, what we can learn from digging up dinosaur bones and how we look at ourselves.

An introductory area, Beakman’s Home Place, serves as experiment lab and demonstration area.  Penguins Don and Herb welcome visitors to the exhibits as Beakman and his sidekick lab rat Lester explain who they are and why Beakman’s World On Tour.

At Beakman’s Home Place, visitors enter Darwin’s Living Room and can spin the Wheel of Natural Selection, a game of chance where nature rules.  In the Rainforest area, visitors may step up to the Rain Forest Café Table to learn why the layers of plants that make up a rainforest are a lot like being under a giant umbrella.  Other areas of the Rainforest include Lester’s Rain Gauge, Beakman’s Getta-loada-these-bugs Field Guide, Lester’s Hideout, Jungle Mart and Sounds of the Rainforest.

Visitors go back in time to “bone” up on science in the Dinosaur Area and join detective Beakman to solve the mystery of the demise of the dinosaurs using maps, fossils, and prints, too.  From earth visitors space out with Beakman and Lester to blast off into space to learn about the electromagnetic spectrum, do light experiments and plan the interactive computer game – Is There Anybody OUT There?

Get down and dirty as visitors discover more about the human body, while playing Immune System Foosball and stepping on board Beakman’s Inner Body Tours Pontoon Board for a computer simulated ride through various body systems.
