Live Demonstrations

We schedule live demonstrations, videos and other programs for the general public daily. Since the schedule is changed each day, we suggest you call the day you plan to visit to check on times and availability of programs.

ATOMS AND ATOM SMASHERS - This is a regularly scheduled demonstration (2-3 times daily) that combines a discussion of basic atomic structure with a "hair raising" demonstration of static electricity. Fun for the entire family!

THE HARNESSED ATOM - A large model of a nuclear reactor serves as the centerpiece of this lecture/demonstration on nuclear power and the operation of nuclear reactors. Middle School Level - Adult.

MR. STUFFEE - A large, human-like character named Stuffee is used as an education tool to teach children about the anatomy of the human body. Stuffee's chest can be unzipped to allow removal of his internal organs so that they can be identified individually and associated with the other organs. Elementary Level

IT'S A GAS – Students will gain an understanding of air pressure and low temperatures by seeing demonstrations of a vacuum chamber, liquid nitrogen, balloons, airplane, and other items. Middle School Level.

The Atom a Closer Look - A Walt Disney production that explores both sides of the nuclear energy issue.

The Rotten Truth - A "trashy" film about our waste and how we can reduce, reuse and recycle it.

Ten Seconds That Shook The World This film details the decisions that were involved with the decision to drop the first Atomic Bomb.
